MeetNote Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
MeetNote is a Chrome extension that turns Google Meet captions into transcripts, AI summaries and answers to your questions. This policy explains what data MeetNote handles and where it goes.
The short version
- MeetNote has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. The developer never receives your data.
- Transcripts, summaries, chats and settings are stored locally in your browser.
- Transcript text is sent only to the AI provider you choose in Settings, and only to create summaries or answer your questions. If you choose "On-device", nothing leaves your computer.
- Your data is never sold, shared for advertising or used for anything unrelated to MeetNote's features.
Data MeetNote handles
| Data | Why | Where it is stored or sent |
|---|---|---|
| Meeting captions (speaker names and what they said), meeting title and code, start and end times | To build your transcript, summaries and Q&A | Stored in your browser's extension storage. Sent to your chosen AI provider when a summary or answer is generated. |
| Summaries, action items and Q&A chats | To show your meeting notes | Stored in your browser's extension storage. |
| AI provider API keys you enter | To make requests to that provider on your behalf | Stored in your browser's extension storage. Sent only to that provider. |
| Settings (provider, model, language, capture options) | To remember your preferences | Stored in your browser's extension storage. |
MeetNote only reads Google Meet pages (meet.google.com). It does not read other websites, record audio or video, or collect your browsing history.
AI providers
When you use a cloud provider, the transcript text and your question are sent directly from your browser to that provider using your own API key. Their handling of that data is covered by their own terms and privacy policies:
- Google Gemini API: ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms
- OpenAI: openai.com/policies/privacy-policy
- Anthropic (Claude): anthropic.com/legal/privacy
- OpenRouter: openrouter.ai/privacy
- Groq: groq.com/privacy-policy
MeetNote also downloads OpenRouter's public model list (no personal data is sent) to fill in the model picker.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays in your browser until you delete it. You can delete a single meeting from its menu, delete everything under Settings > Data > Delete all, or uninstall the extension, which removes all of its stored data.
Consent from other participants
MeetNote processes what other people say in your meetings. Laws in some places require everyone's consent before a conversation is transcribed. Let participants know you are taking notes with MeetNote, and follow the rules that apply to you and your organization.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
MeetNote's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
